The Baize Method and Its Boundaries

Three steps. Four boundaries. And one honest explanation of what this system cannot do — and why it never asks you a question.

Before the process

The first question almost everyone asks is the same one: so do you tell fortunes or not.

That cannot be answered in one line, so this page puts three things together — how we read a chart, what we do not do, and how to ask a question so that the answer is actually useful.

The short version first: reference, not prediction; decision support, not decisions. Why it is that way is below.

1Three steps, plus one check

  1. See the cards in your hand Enter your birth date, time and place. The Four Pillars, major cycles and annual rhythms are computed — no manual charting errors.
  2. Recognise the structure BaZi and Zi Wei Dou Shu, cross-verified, clarify your innate structure, decision style and timing rhythm. Not "what will happen" — "what you tend to do".
  3. Decide how to play them Keep asking specific questions as life unfolds. The cards cannot be changed; how you play them can.
  4. Take it away and check it The three steps give you a structure, not a conclusion. Whether it holds is yours to check against your own record — does the same kind of thing keep recurring, and does it show up in more than one area of your life? You are the only one who can answer that.

The fourth step is the dividing line. The first three are ours to do; the fourth only you can do. That is also the biggest difference between this and a question-and-answer service.

Why the first input is a birth moment rather than a questionnaire is set out in Why Knowing Yourself Cannot Rely on a Questionnaire.

2Four boundaries

  1. For reference, not prediction We do not tell you what will happen. We show you what you are holding and what conditions favour which moves.
  2. Decision support, not decisions The final decision always remains yours. We make you clearer, not compliant.
  3. Wider awareness, not fate Outcomes come from structure, conditions and choices together. We do not attribute your life to a chart.
  4. No promise of certainty Anyone who promises 100% accuracy is not us. We offer structure, probability and boundaries.
To expect destiny studies to be right every time is either the sales pitch of a street fortune-teller or the daydream of the ignorant.Lu Zhiji, A History of Chinese Mingli Studies, Shanghai People's Publishing House, 2008 (source list)

These four are not a disclaimer. They are instructions for use. They decide what you should take this for: to see the conditions clearly, not to buy a guarantee.

3How this differs from corporate assessments

Corporate assessmentsBaize
Who it servesThe company (selecting, staffing, managing)You (understanding yourself)
CriterionThe role: do you match itYour structure: does it fit your record
InputQuestionnaires you answer (subjective)Your birth moment (never asks you)
OutputOne report, frozen once it is doneReport + ongoing dialogue + optional companion advisor
Tracking changeTested once, frozenTen-year rhythm of major & annual cycles
ConditionAnswer the way the role requiresYou have to be honest with yourself — that is what makes it go deep

The two do not compete: an assessment answers "do you fit this role"; Baize answers "how have you been playing your hand". It is not a test you hand in and walk away from — the more honest you are with yourself, the more it gives you.

4Difference is not error

The same annual influence, falling on different major cycles, different original charts and different ways of playing, produces genuinely different outcomes in real life.

That is not a flaw in this system — it is exactly what makes it worth using. It shows that how you play is the variable, and that variable is in your hands. Any account that hands the whole result over to time or luck is taking the responsibility off you.

5How to ask, so that you get something useful back

Push for a single answer, and you mostly get a forecast — or comfortLay out what happened, and the structure has a chance to surface
How much will I earn this year?I turned down two deals in the first half — not for lack of time. I was avoiding the conversation about price.
Is this relationship salvageable? Our last three arguments all started at the moment I felt dismissed — and I know my reaction in that moment is outsized.
What kind of work suits me?I have been in this role four years. Nothing is clearly wrong, yet once a quarter I want to resign.
So what do you think I should do?I roughly know what to do, but every time I get close to moving I pull back — I want to see what that pull-back is.

The left column is not forbidden — it is just that asking that way only buys you one line: either a forecast or comfort. The right column lays out the situation, your own reading of it and where you hesitated, which is what lets the structure surface.

We will not turn you away with "that is outside the scope of this service". What we can answer, we answer; where we cannot, we will say what it would take to go further.

You do not have to wait until you have "enough instances". One thing is enough to start with. Your own observation and self-reflection are the most useful half of it.

What to do next

To see how we read your chart, and where your question should start, these can be copied straight in:

  • "No conclusions yet. What is the most obvious structure on my chart?"
  • "Asking it the way I do, what can you give me and what can't you?"
  • "If all I wanted was to know whether it will happen, how would you answer?"

It answers from your chart, not from a generic script.

To lay the whole chart out at once, use the Full Report: seven chapters, from who you are through career, money and close relationships, written as a draft you can return to.

First time on Baize and not sure which step comes first? The full order — chart, question, review, coming back — is in First Time on Baize: Where to Start.

This page is for cultural study and self-reflection. It is not a predictive promise, nor medical, legal, investment or career advice.

FAQQuestions

Will you tell me whether I will succeed?

No. We describe conditions and structure: what makes you more likely to pull something off, and what makes the same kind of thing fail again and again. Whether and how to move is your call.

If you promise no accuracy, what is the use?

The use is not in guessing right. It is that the chart gives you a fixed coordinate: read the same matter again later and the difference shows itself, and your own record finally has something to be held against. A verdict is not available here. A structure you can check is.

Can I buy a report without using the dialogue?

Yes. A report is generated once and can be re-read or exported afterwards. The report is the groundwork, though — most people's real gain comes in the later rounds, when they bring back what actually happened.

Start with your own chart, then decide whether to go further.
